The price of only $19.99 is very fair for about 600 pages, but I made a big mistake by titling this as “Memoirs..” because it should have been “Adventures of a Misfit.”

And that’s the way in which readers I gifted the book to described their pleasure in reading about the various “adventures” – real ones – that got me on the road to eventually becoming a reporter – after being fired twice before I was 19.

It was no easy road for a regular runaway. But when you reach almost 80, there’s plenty of adversity and sometimes chaos back there which, believe it or not, are as important in life as the good times.

If you only ate a life diet of happy days you’d surely miss the wisdom that comes from what you might initially see as your screw-ups.

Wisdom may be hard won, but if you’ve spent enough time in seeking knowledge, you might eventually come to the realization that your very thoughts are the creation of everything, and everyone, you experience in life. One’s thoughts are the creation of both the good, and the not so good…the worst of times and the best of times.

In other words, we create our own karma – our own future – because thoughts, embellished with our feelings and the trappings of an individual ego, when coupled with one’s birthright of free will, BUT lacking in wisdom back then, we don’t know how powerful our thoughts and attitudes really are.

Maybe I should take note again of what I’ve just written, because I’m thinking about a follow-on book.

So I took immediate action by hopping over to Wikipedia, which was a conscious thought about subject matter, and who might read such a book?

The first word that came to mind was….

Epitaph

“An epitaph is a short text honoring a deceased person. Strictly speaking, it refers to text that is inscribed on a tombstone or plaque, but it may also be used in a figurative sense. Some epitaphs are specified by the person themselves before their death….”

Having had a Near Death Experience (NDE) in this life, it was brief and enough to know that one’s mind and consciousness go on after death.

But the bummer of it all is that we seem to start the next life with no memory of what we gained the last time round…so, wouldn’t it be great, when I come back, if I come across a roadmap for life, written in my past life, by my own self?

Well, obviously, I’ve really got out in the weeds here….but you just might find my “Memoirs” – and Adventures – at least entertaining.
